Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade have partnered with leaders from the private sector, business organizations and the Colorado Community College System to establish the Governor’s Competitiveness Council.
The council is intended to develop a shared strategy for strengthening Colorado’s economy and improving the state’s ability to attract, retain and expand businesses.
The council will evaluate data and member recommendations to identify legislative, policy and regulatory changes that support long-term economic growth. Its findings and recommendations will be compiled into a strategic roadmap to help inform the state’s economic priorities and policies. The report will be shared with all gubernatorial candidates and the state legislature.
The executive committee is composed of 19 business, economic and elected leaders from across the state, including Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce President and CEO J.J. Ament, Colorado Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Loren Furman, Colorado Business Roundtable President Debbie Brown, Colorado Community College System Chancellor Marielena DeSanctis and former Colorado Treasurer Walker Stapleton.
