Ohio DOT allocates $123M to support major transportation infrastructure projects

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has greenlit a $123.1 million investment across 11 major transportation projects. 

The Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) approved the funding, splitting the awards with $103.6 million supporting six construction projects and the remaining $19.56 million for five development initiatives. 

Qualifying projects are categorized across three tiers. Tier 1 projects are recommended to begin construction within the next four years. Tier 2 projects are recommended for extra environmental, design of right-of-way development activities before construction can begin. Tier 3 projects received previous construction funding in Tier 1 and are part of a long-range funding plan. 

Projects slated for construction as part of receiving Tier 1 approval include: 

  • $35 million to improve roadways along the Interstate 71/Snow Road interchange and ramps in Brook Park, Cuyahoga County. Construction is slated for Fiscal Year 2027. 
  • $27 million to build a diverging diamond interchange at I-75 and Millikin Road in Butler County. Construction is slated for FY 2028. 
  • $17.6 million to improve surface transportation routes connected to the Dayton International Airport Northeast Logistics project in Montgomery County. Construction is scheduled for FY 2027. 
  • $10 million to reconstruct light rail tracks for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) in Cuyahoga County. Construction is slated for FY 2027. 
  • $8.7 million to widen and improve Alum Creek Drive in Franklin County. Construction is scheduled for FY 2028. 
  • $5.3 million to enhance the roadway along State Route 172 in Canton, Stark County. Construction is scheduled for FY 2027. 

The remaining projects receiving funding for project development with Tier 2 approval include: 

  • $6 million to improve the I-70 and I-675 interchange in Clark County. 
  • $5 million to improve the US 213 and Orange Road intersection in Delaware County. 
  • $4 million to build a roadway/new alignment for the Bluegrass Parkway extension in Fayette County. 
  • $3 million to improve the I-71 and I-270 interchange north of Columbus, Franklin County. 
  • $1.5 million to improve roadways and an interchange at SR 315 and Lane Avenue in Franklin County.
