School officials in Lincoln County, Maine, are planning a nearly $25 million overhaul of its only high school serving the Medomak Valley region.
The Medomak Valley High School renovation project in Waldoboro has received newly approved funding to move forward, with $24.9 million in improvements planned across the campus.
The project will be funded through a bond approved by voters in the five towns that make up the school district. School district leaders said the improvements, including new water storage, replacement electrical and HVAC systems, renovated restrooms and entrance security upgrades, are needed but cannot be completed within existing budget allocations.
Other identified needs include replacing asbestos floor tiles, installing sprinkler systems and fire walls, and addressing accessibility requirements.
Renovations are expected to take place campuswide over three summers, with the first phase beginning this summer with asbestos abatement, installation of a larger water tank with arsenic filtration, and a biomass boiler to support both the high school and middle school.
Additional plumbing, electrical and flooring improvements are planned for 2027, followed by framing and finishing work in 2028.
