The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking ridership feedback on the upcoming redesign of Jamaica Station in New York City’s Queens borough. The renovation project has already received a dedicated $50 million included in the state’s Fiscal Year 2027 executive budget.
Participants have until May 8 to submit a response to the customer survey. The MTA will use the public input to inform the redesign process, aligning the facility’s updated architecture with the needs and expectations of the people.
As ridership projections continue to rise with each passing year, MTA officials have determined that Jamaica Station’s services will soon be rendered inadequate to keep up with demand. Currently, the transit hub serves roughly 200,000 passengers, connecting residents and visitors alike with essential transit services.
The MTA and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) are collaborating on the project. Once completed, the modernized station will enable better traffic flow, reduce crowding and provide seamless connections between the LIRR Main Line, NYC Transit and AirTrain JFK.
The project is still in the conceptual phase. A firm design and construction schedule has not been released.
