The FAA is delivering $870 million through 339 Airport Infrastructure Grants to airports across 44 states and two territories. The funding supports projects that improve passenger safety, modernize airport infrastructure and enhance passenger convenience.
Funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which provides $14.5 billion over five years for airport improvements. The funding supports terminal upgrades, runway and taxiway improvements, roadway projects, and other safety and access infrastructure. This fifth and final funding installment includes up to $2.39 billion for primary airports and up to $500 million for nonprimary airports.
Grants went to airports in multiple FAA hub categories, and the largest awards were not limited to large hub airports. Some of the largest recipients were:
- William P. Hobby Airport in Houston – $62.2 million for runway reconstruction.
- Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport – $49.6 million to rehabilitate Taxiway Z.
- Portland International Airport – $44.5 million for taxiway rehabilitation.
- Kahului Airport in Hawaii – $31.1 million for runway rehabilitation.
