The Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC) has awarded approximately $230 million to support infrastructure designed to support military installations across the nation. A total of 26 projects were selected through the 2026 funding round.
The Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP) allocates funding to communities with infrastructure intended to enable military installation readiness and efficacy. The program’s latest round has targeted roughly $230 million in federal grants, which combined with $77 million in non-federal funding brings the total investment to around $350 million.
State and local governments, alongside qualifying not-for-profit entities, may use funding to support projects that fall under the following criteria:
- Complete and usable transportation infrastructure.
- Community support facilities, including schools, hospitals, police, fire and emergency response, among others.
- Utility projects, including water, wastewater, telecommunications, electric and gas, among others.
All initiatives must be located off a military installation or property under a military department’s jurisdiction. The following are a selection of recipients chosen for the largest awards in the latest round of funding.
Douglas School District 51-1, South Dakota, will receive $20 million to build an elementary school supporting the Ellsworth Air Force Base. The funding will cover a portion of the project’s total $64.5 million cost.
San Angelo, Texas, will receive another $20 million award to build transportation and utility infrastructure improvements in support of Goodfellow Air Force Base. The project’s total cost is $28.6 million.
