Texas A&M University plans multimillion dollar Medical Sciences Library renovation

December 30, 2025

Texas A&M University (TAMU) will spend $11.6 million to renovate the first level of the Medical Sciences Library to accommodate faculty needs. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2027.

A total of 18,429 square feet of Level 1 of the Medical Sciences Library is slated for renovation, with plans to allocate additional office space for the School of Public Health’s faculty and staff. The need for expanded capacity results from sudden increased and anticipated future growth as the university consolidates compartments and accepts new students.

The reused space will provide approximately 60 offices for the School of Public Safety. Additional renovations will offer several conference spaces, a large flexible meeting room and a collection of student workspaces.

Various ancillary spaces will be incorporated into the site layout to ensure faculty, staff and students are properly accommodated. These will include a breakroom, storage, copy room, IT server room and welcome spaces.

The project vision calls for demolishing interior walls and removing the level’s raised flooring. In addition, the university will demolish the HVAC system and add new plumbing to the break room. Plans call for maintaining the facility’s mechanical, fire, electrical and telecommunications systems alongside other utilities.
