Louisiana DOTD launches $100M effort to replace, rehabilitate aging bridges

September 16, 2025

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has launched a new strategy progressing a $100.1 million effort to replace or rehabilitate 62 aging bridges across the state.

The projects are included in the state’s Bridge Bundle program, targeting infrastructure that’s severely outdated and needs to be addressed to ensure transportation safety. DOTD will work alongside the recently formed Office of Louisiana Highway Construction (OLHC) to complete these projects.

The OLHC was created through Act No. 389 during the 2025 Legislative Session. The office is responsible for reimagining project delivery, privatizing select functions and overseeing the development, maintenance and repair of state highways.

Collaboration between the agencies will enable the state to accelerate timetables for project design and construction. All projects featured in the Bridge Bundle are included within the DOTD’s Transforming Transportation plan – an innovative effort to modernize infrastructure through streamlined, cost-efficient, performance-based solutions.

While firm timelines have not been established for each project, the DOTD has released the first seven bridges that will be replaced or rehabilitated:

  • LA 513 Brushy Bayou in DeSoto Parish.
  • LA 147 Brown Creek in Jackson Parish.
  • LA 487 Brushy Bayou in Natchitoches Parish.
  • LA 36 Creek in St. Tammany Parish.
  • LA 1062 Drain in Tangipahoa Parish.
  • LA 82 Canal in Vermilion Parish.
  • LA 463 Boddy Branch in Vernon Parish.
