$250 million Energy Department NOFO closing soon

The Enhanced Use of Defense Production Act (DPA) is a $500 million program to accelerate domestic production of key energy technologies. The Department of Energy (DOE) announced a $250 million Notice of Funding (NOFO) for three to 12 projects through the DPA to expedite electric heat pump manufacturing.

Eligible uses include creating domestic heat pump production facilities to strengthen supply-chain, renovating existing production facilities to transition to electric heat pumps and developing a future workforce through partnerships with labor unions and apprenticeship programs.

Additional topic areas are:

  • Residential Heat Pump Production Capability: Creating domestic production capacity for heat pumps and components for single dwelling residential units.
  • Heat Pump Water Heater Production Capability: Developing domestic production capacity for heat pump water heaters and components.
  • All Other Heat Pump and Component Production Capability: Establishing domestic production capacity for heat pumps serving multifamily dwelling units, commercial, and industrial purposes.

Eligible recipients include entities capable of establishing or expanding manufacturing capacity, including tribal governments.

The NOFO closes April 29, 2024.
