Officials with the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Clinton in Saint Johns are planning a $62 million expansion to health care facilities that no longer meet emerging needs for clinical care.
The expansion includes constructing 19,000 square feet of new hospital space, renovating 42,000 square feet of existing hospital and medical office space, and building a new 22,000-square-foot ambulatory center.
The project will convert nearly all patient rooms to private rooms while expanding oncology and surgical services, adding a second CT scanner, increasing primary and specialty care space, and providing MRI services seven days a week. Funding will come from University of Michigan Health-Sparrow resources.
Growing demand for outpatient and inpatient care, along with increased need for specialty services, prompted the project. Construction is expected to take approximately 37 months.
UM Health-Sparrow Clinton is a critical access hospital with 25 licensed beds that also provides Level IV Trauma services.
