Richard McHale appointed Austin Resource Recovery director

On Sept. 8, interim city manager Jesús Garza appointed Richard McHale as the city of Austin’s new Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) director. McHale brings over 30 years of experience with ARR to the role, where he most recently served as the department’s deputy director.

McHale has been ARR’s interim director since March following former Director Ken Snipes’ reassignment to the city’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. In his new position, McHale will oversee planning, directing, coordinating and maintaining economical and efficient resource recovery, recycling and reuse services in Austin.
