School officials with Madill Public Schools Board of Education in Oklahoma are nearing the end of the design phase for a new elementary school expansion project in Madill. After achieving the 90% design phase mark, the district will soon begin seeking proposals for an elementary school expansion project approved in an October bond issue.
Voters overwhelmingly approved the $37.37 million bond measure, with 75% voting in favor, to construct a new elementary classroom building. The project will include a safe room, library/media center, classrooms, kitchen and cafeteria, and a secure front entrance.
The bond funding is intended to construct, furnish, equip and acquire the new elementary facility as the district addresses classroom needs while adding safety and security features. The district also has previously approved but unissued building bonds that could be used for additional facility projects, according to bond transparency documents.
