Bank of America targets $250B for U.S. infrastructure

August 19, 2026

In honor of the nation’s 250th birthday, Bank of America has announced a $250 billion infrastructure investment plan to facilitate AI, energy and security infrastructure development. The company has already committed to the 18-month initiative starting Jan. 1 and ending July 4, 2027.

The Critical Infrastructure Initiative will funnel billions through financing, investment and advisory solutions to spur infrastructure development throughout the nation. As America’s economic output and population growth continues to boom, adequate infrastructure for computing power, energy, manufacturing capacity, transportation and supply chains increases in demand.

“Meeting America’s growing infrastructure needs requires mobilizing capital at scale across increasingly interconnected sectors,” said Karen Fang, global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance and co-head of global capital solutions at Bank of America. “Delivering these projects requires integrated financing solutions spanning corporate and project-level capital in both public and private markets. By bringing together capital providers, developers, corporations and investors, we are focused on helping accelerate investment in infrastructure that drives economic growth and creates lasting value for communities.”

To support critical economic sectors, Bank of America is targeting three infrastructure categories for its investments:

  • Digital infrastructure, including data centers, computing infrastructure, telecommunications and semiconductors.
  • Energy and power infrastructure, including conventional and renewable power generation, energy storage and other distribution systems.
  • Core infrastructure, including transportation, electric and energy transmission, grid optimization, water systems and critical minerals and mining.

The initiative’s priority investments reflect the company’s vested interest in securing America’s position as a global leader in innovation while ensuring its infrastructural framework is futureproof. Bank of America anticipates that massive private investment will directly lend itself to creating jobs across multiple core sectors, further enabling investments that expand available employment opportunities.

Workforce development remains one of the chief concerns for the nation’s growth. While many key markets are seeing record gains, industry is also seeing a drop-off in qualified personnel needed to uphold these systems. These investments intend to bolster available and upcoming workforce development programs, supplementing the highly skilled workforce needed to build, operate and maintain critical data, power generation, grid and transportation infrastructure.
