Louisiana – Christina Dayries will serve as interim director of the Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. Director Chad Sonnier stepped down after Gov. Jeff Landry appointed him to serve as Louisiana State Fire Marshal. Dayries is Mayor President Monique Boulet’s chief of staff.
California – Gillian Haen is Chico’s new city manager. She spent the last four years as assistant city manager in Vallejo, Calif. Haen says her priorities include economic development, downtown revitalization and addressing homelessness.
Illinois – Ashlee Gabrysch has been named Chicago’s chief financial officer. She most recently served as Fitch Ratings’ senior director and manager for the Mid-Central region. Gabrysch has served as Fitch’s lead analyst for both Chicago and Illinois since 2019.
Montana – Corey Parker is Helena’s next fire chief. He replaces Jon Campbell, who is pursuing a law degree at the University of Montana. Parker arrives from Virginia, bringing with him more than 35 years of fire and emergency services experience.
Hawaii – David Lazar is Honolulu’s new chief of police, becoming HPD’s first chief from the mainland in nearly a century. Lazar is a retired assistant police chief from San Francisco.
Georgia – Cheri Hobson-Matthews is the new city manager for Norcross. She will replace City Manager Eric Johnson, who is retiring in September. Norcross leaders said the city received more than 200 applications for the position, selecting six finalists. Hobson-Matthews previously worked for Henry County.
Texas – Roberto Baez has been tapped to serve as Los Fresnos city manager. On his first day in office, several local pastors gathered at city hall to pray over Baez. He has previous municipal experience working for the city of Brownsville, Texas.
Massachusetts – Shin-pei Tsay has been named Chief Information Officer for Boston’s Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT). She currently serves as the City’s Chief Research and Data Officer, where she launched the first citywide data strategy, and formerly led the Mayor Michelle Wu’s Office of Urban Mechanics.
