$156.7 million grant to expand Oregon’s broadband infrastructure

October 29, 2023

The U.S. Department of the Treasury awarded a $156.7 million grant to the state of Oregon for high-speed internet infrastructure projects. The funding is provided through the Capital Projects Fund (CPF), a $10 billion program that helps underserved communities develop modern broadband infrastructure, digital connectivity technologies and multi-purpose community facility projects.

Oregon will use its CPF allocation to fund a competitive grant program supporting last-mile broadband infrastructure in areas with insufficient internet access. Those projects are expected to connect over 17,000 low-income homes and businesses.

Since June of 2022, the CPF has provided more than $8.4 billion for projects in every state and three territories. Some of the largest awards include:

  • California – $540.2 million
  • Texas – $363.8 million
  • Illinois – $253.7 million
  • Michigan – $250.6 million
  • Georgia – $250 million
  • Florida – $247.8 million
