Miles SmithOklahoma plans to invest nearly $930 million in improvements to aging county roads and bridges across the state over the next five years.
The Oklahoma Transportation Commission recently approved the 2026-2030 County Improvements for Roads and Bridges Plan, which targets roads and bridges outside Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) jurisdiction.
The plan seeks to replace or rehabilitate 230 county bridges, including 82 structures currently classified as structurally deficient or functionally obsolete, and improves 422 miles of county roadways, according to ODOT officials.
Plan highlights include:
- $12.5 million project in Love County that includes reconstruction of five miles of Oswalt Road and bridge replacement in Ardmore. The project includes Congressionally Directed Spending funds.
- $12.5 million project in Harmon County to reconstruct 8 miles of East 1550 Road from SH-30 to North 1790 Road.
- $7.2 million road and bridge improvement project in Love and Ottawa counties on S. 520 Rd. and East 120 Road, including a new bridge over Coal Creek in Miami.
- A nearly $5 million project in Cherokee County involving bridge replacement over Petitt Creek nearPark Hill and realignment of Indian Road.
- $4.8 million bridge replacement project and widening of 4 miles of Moccasin Trail Road in Pottawatomie County.
- $3 million project will continue reconstruction of 2.5 miles of East County Road from South County Road 199 to South County Road 196 in Woodward County.
