Adam RollinsThe Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will spend $62.5 million to widen Interstate 75 between Warren and Montgomery counties. The project is currently in the design phase, and construction is expected to begin in spring 2027.
The I-75 project will fully reconstruct and widen the roadway. The current road conditions are severely degraded, with geometric features that fail to meet design standards and poorly designed lanes that impair driver safety.
Plans include expanding the roadway to provide an additional travel lane in each direction along I-75. The existing shoulders will be expanded to 12 feet on both sides of the roadway throughout the target corridor.
To fix the pavement, ODOT will completely rework the interstate, providing a full-depth reconstruction to repair deterioration and strengthen infrastructure. The project will also resolve substandard geometric features such as issues with bridge clearances and superelevation.
The project will raise the under-bridge clearance along two sections of the corridor, providing an additional 0.18 to 0.47 feet of extra space. The department may also install a noise barrier or buy additional right-of-way but will first perform public outreach to determine feasibility and need for the extra work.
