The Lake County School Board in Florida has approved a $51 million plan to reconstruct Eustis Elementary School, according to the school district’s 2025-2026 Capital Plan. Currently in the design phase, bidding for construction is scheduled to open in January 2027.
The project will build several new additions to the school’s layout, ranging between one- to two-story classroom buildings to significantly expand existing facilities. The largest planned addition, planned to be built adjacent to the existing classroom building, will provide dedicated spaces for media, art, music and administration.
The northern end of the facility will be the public face for the school, leading into an outdoor courtyard area with a stage, greenspace and playgrounds. The project vision calls for a new multi-purpose and dining area, an attached kitchen and service space, a 1-acre playfield, a covered play area and two stormwater retention zones.
As part of the expansion efforts, the school district will install gated fencing around the perimeter with multiple entrances for pickup/drop off. The parent drop off area will feature a superstack design, providing 1,750 linear feet of laned space to streamline traffic. A total of 141 parking spaces have been slotted for the parking lot.
Additional work will consist of ensuring the school is up to code by fixing and adding sidewalk and ADA ramp access to the campus. The district will repair drainage flumes from the pavement into the pond, add portable restrooms, add walls in the gym locker rooms, a sally port to the main office and properly equip classrooms.
