Connecticut opens AmeriCorps funding round for 2026

March 4, 2026

The state of Connecticut has opened the application window for the next round of AmeriCorps Connecticut Formula funding during the 2026 through 2027 programming year. Applications must be submitted by March 31.

The Connecticut Commission on Community Service (Serve Connecticut) presides over the program, set to begin in fall 2026. The funding process is open, supplementing both operational and planning grants for qualifying initiatives. The full available amount of funding has not been released as it depends on annual appropriations.

The AmeriCorps Connecticut programs promote civic engagement by proactively supporting service and volunteering. Organizations may benefit from the program to help address some of the nation’s most pressing challenges, leveraging national service and volunteerism to directly, positively impact communities and people in need.

Organizations interested in participating in the program must typically work through evidence-based or –informed interventions that support communities. The program prioritizes faith-based organizations and those that serve communities with concentrated poverty and underserved populations, including rural and tribal communities. These organizations may also work to expand access to high-quality youth mental health and substance use recovery services and improve the lives of veterans, active-duty members and their families.

Additional priority areas would center around improving public safety, crime prevention and partnerships between local law enforcement and the community. Organizations should also focus on expanding outdoor recreation opportunities, creating workforce pathways for AmeriCorps members and strengthening families.

Eligible organizations that may apply for the program include:

  • Indian Tribes.
  • Institutions of higher education.
  • Local governments, including school districts.
  • Nonprofit organizations.
  • State Service Commissions.
  • States and US territories.

To be considered for funding, applicants must have at least one representative register for and attend one of four scheduled live virtual Serve Connect information sessions available on the Serve Connect website. Organizations must also be actively registered with the federal System for Award Management (SAM) at the time of application and award.
