Tarleton State University, through the Texas A&M University System, will spend $57 million to build a new multifaceted parking garage. Construction is slated to begin in December 2026.
The project will replace an existing surface parking long with a five-level, cast-in-place parking garage. Located on the north side of campus, the new structure will provide at least 1,500 new parking spaces.
The garage will offer ADA-compliant parking and accommodations for large pickup trucks. The garage will have one level at-grade, four elevated levels and rooftop parking. Ample pedestrian access will be provided around the structure’s perimeter.
Additional space will be dedicated to critical mobility features, such as stair towers and elevators. The planned layout will provide potential access from four streets:
- North Garfield Avenue.
- North Lilian Street.
- West Mulberry Street.
- West Ash Street.
The building will include both basic and critical infrastructure, such as plumbing, mechanical, fire, electrical and telecommunications systems. Additional features include windows, partitions, interior finishes and miscellaneous equipment.
The university will build the structure with a 50-year commercial building lifecycle in mind. In addition, the project will be completed while emphasizing sustainability, environmental quality and resource conservation.
