Michigan will use the funding to launch the Renewables Ready Communities program, advancing the state’s efforts to achieve 60% renewable energy by 2030.
The funding will support energy conservation projects to support the Fed's goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in all federal buildings by 2045.
The project will electrify and weatherproof more than 60,000 buildings, improving access to healthy, climate-friendly homes for low-income, disadvantaged communities.
These grants are available for both planning and implementation phases and are expected to help local governments and transit agencies develop long-term sustainability goals.
These projects, supported by federal funding, focus on building housing and mixed-use communities near public transit stations to encourage public transportation.
