Ohio is investing $92 million in outfitting five sites in four counties with infrastructure to help attract future economic development projects.
Funding is being made available through the All Ohio Future Fund for improvements that include roadwork, wastewater improvements and flood and hazard mitigation in Gallia, Guernsey, Muskingum and Pickaway counties.
“When major corporations are looking to move or expand, they need shovel-ready property,” Gov. Mike DeWine said. “We’re proactively preparing these sites with the necessary infrastructure to make Ohio more competitive with other states and more likely to win projects that bring hundreds to thousands of new jobs.”
The awards were approved by the Ohio Controlling Board. They include:
- $86 million to the Pickaway County Port Authority for infrastructure upgrades to support the development of more than 1,000 acres, including $70 million to support the Anduril Industries manufacturing site Arsenal-1 in Pickaway County. Arsenal-1 will be located on more than 600 acres along Airbase Road. Improvements will include extensive utility and roadwork solutions needed at the site, including a public taxiway at the airport. A second 286-acre site, located in the Northern Pickaway County Joint Economic Development District along State Route 762 and a quarter mile from the intersection with US Route 23, will use $16 million to extend a regional sanitary sewer line.
- $3.68 million to the Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority for site preparation and the construction of a sewer extension at the 203- acre National Road Business Park.
- $1.47 million to the Guernsey County Port Authority to assist with construction of a water and wastewater extension and roadwork for a 44-acre site within the Cambridge Industrial Corridor. The project will create shovel-ready sites able to accommodate manufacturing operations.
- $1 million to the Gallia County Community Improvement Corporation for site preparation and roadwork for a 77-acre site in Bidwell. Located within the existing US-35 Industrial Corridor, the award will fund road access and stormwater retention improvements to support the future construction of a 50,000-square-foot building.
