New York State has issued a request for applications for projects eligible to receive a share of $644 million in federal funding that has been made available through a program to expand affordable, high-speed broadband internet access.
The ConnectALL Deployment Program seeks to expand low-cost, reliable, high-speed internet to businesses and homes in areas without dependable broadband options. The funding represents the largest portion of New York’s allocation from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration Broadband Equity.
Awards will include projects to build infrastructure and install communications equipment necessary to deliver high speed internet access.
Applications must be submitted before Feb. 7.
The state said 69,111 areas located throughout New York were considered eligible for the funding.
These eligible areas were determined through a multi-step process that included input from internet service providers along with regional, county and local leaders.
ConnectALL will make the planned awards available for public comment in spring 2025 before submitting them to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) for approval by July 25, 2025.
Selected projects are expected to begin later in 2025 and be completed within four years.
