Funds will be used to build infrastructure that reinforces water supplies pulled from the Cumberland River and processed by city of Gallatin’s water treatment plant
Loan funded through EPA’s Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act, a credit program designed to support water, wastewater and infrastructure projects
EPA awarded nearly $387 million to Pennsylvania to upgrade infrastructure to help deliver cleaner, safer water to residents and another $62.3 million to Virginia
Eligible projects include those that would improve water availability, increase water quality, restore river life and ecosystems or use natural features to reduce flood risks.
Entities have until Dec. 29, 2023, to apply for $85 million through the State Water Plan Fund for water infrastructure projects or up-front technical assistance to address water quantity and quality issues.
The funds can be used to accelerate water and wastewater projects that enhance community resilience, promote economic prosperity or improve environmental quality.
