The Washington State Department of Commerce (DOC) is looking to make the process of bringing clean energy and climate funding opportunities to the state much easier.
DOC is announcing the launch of two programs, the Clean Energy Tax Credit Assistance Program and Grant Writing Assistance Program, that will help connect entities in Washington to identify and access federal dollars for important infrastructure projects.
These programs are supported by the Climate Commitment Act (CCA) and look to promote sustainability, boost economic growth and ensure all communities across the state have equitable access.

“We are in the midst of a generational opportunity to leverage and secure funding from the federal government to support our efforts to build energy resilience and prepare future generations for the impacts of climate change,” says Commerce Director Mike Fong.
The Clean Energy Tax Credit Assistance Program (CETCAP) is available to organizations and entities eligible for federal clean energy tax incentives through the Inflation Reduction Act.
Free resources, including personalized support from clean energy tax attorneys, are available now for community-based organizations, local government agencies, ports, housing authorities, tribes and other entities. Those interested should visit DOC’s contracted program partner Lawyers for Good Government to submit a request for assistance.
The Funds Grant Writing Assistance Program is designed for tribes, community-based organizations, local government agencies and other entities to help prepare and submit federal grant applications.
The program is designed to help Washington meet its clean electricity and greenhouse gas reduction goals using approaches that enhance equity, innovation, economic growth and job creation. Those interested can email DOC’s contracted partner, Hagerty Consulting, to set up an intake session. Click here to learn more about the program.
These two new programs come on the heels of the launch of FundHubWA, which looks to connect everyone in Washington with federal and state grants, tax incentives and rebates that advance clean energy, clean air and clean technology projects.
The Washington State Legislature approved funding for FundHubWA in 2024. It is administered by the Washington State Department of Commerce and supported with funding from the CCA.
