The project is expected to generate up to 2.4 gigawatts of offshore wind energy, enough to power over 840,000 homes, for Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Michigan will use the funding to launch the Renewables Ready Communities program, advancing the state’s efforts to achieve 60% renewable energy by 2030.
These grants will provide financial and technical assistance to tribes as they address electrification concerns that have left households without power.
The announcement covers four renewable energy projects that will bring new transmission lines, solar facilities and over 4.7 gigawatts of renewable energy.
