Illinois – The Pekin City Council has chosen John Dossey as its city manager. Dossey has been serving as the city’s interim city manager since May 2023, previously serving as the city’s chief of police since October 2015. Dossey began his duties on Nov. 6.

Michigan – Following her victory last week, Amy Shamroe was officially sworn in as the mayor of Traverse City on Nov. 13. Shamroe has served as a city commissioner for eight years and mayor pro tem for six. She will take over the position from

Virginia – On Oct. 23, the city of Salem appointed the current Assistant City Manager Rob Light to the position of interim city manager. Light will succeed Jay Taliaferro on Nov. 1, bringing 13 years of public sector experience with Roanoke County to the role.

California – Heidi Luckenbach will replace Rosemary Menard as the city of Santa Cruz’s water director. Luckenbach, the current deputy director and engineering manager for the city, has been employed by the city of Santa Cruz’s Water Department since 1999. 

Massachusetts – Mayor Wu has chosen Beata Coloyan as the city of Boston’s new executive director of the Office of Neighborhood Services. Coloyan began her role on Oct. 19.
