Placer County moves over 300-home housing development plan forward

October 22, 2025

The Placer County Board of Supervisors in California has approved a transformational housing initiative to develop 322 homes, putting a plan in motion to meet housing demands and transform the Dry Creek-West Placer community. Construction is expected to begin after final permitting.

The 65-acre site selected for the project is largely unused, consisting of nursery operations and vast swathes of vacant land. The upcoming Mill Creek Single Family Residential Project will prioritize the development of single-family homes. Additional community features will include five neighborhood parks, a pedestrian pathway network and two gated entries.

The project will be split into two distinct phases. The first phase will be located off Antelope Road and include 194 homes. The first park will be built during this portion of the project, alongside landscaped corridors and frontage enhancements along the connecting road.

The second phase will finish the remaining 128 homes planned for the project. Additional work will include building four parks, landscaped areas and frontage enhancement. The project vision also calls for additional roadway improvements, including widened segments, new turn lanes, bike lanes, sidewalks and the installation of a single-lane roundabout.

To ensure all residents have adequate space for their vehicles, the project calls for building five private lots across 5.2 acres. Other recreational amenities will include playfields, bocce ball courts, picnic areas and walking trails. The site will have 33 accessory dwelling units to help meet affordable housing requirements.
