New Mexico DOT launches dashboard to track legislative funding for roadway projects

December 11, 2024

New Mexico is making it easier for residents to track where tax dollars are being spent on the state’s roadways.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) has launched an interactive dashboard to track legislative appropriations from 2024 for road work projects across the state.

“This dashboard allows users to track the allocation of the 2024 Legislative resources by project, funding source, and district,” said NMDOT Cabinet Secretary Ricky Serna. “Transportation infrastructure, improving road safety, and addressing critical transportation challenges are crucial for our state, and this dashboard allows residents to readily access updates on our progress toward those goals.”

The 2024 funding comes from House Bill 2, which includes $190 million for NMDOT to conduct roadway maintenance, and Senate Bill 275, which authorizes the issuance and sale of $320 million in severance tax bonds in fiscal year 2025 to fund nine major construction projects.

NMDOT says the goal of the dashboard is to keep New Mexicans informed about transportation projects including road construction, bridge maintenance and public transit development.
