California – Anthony Valdez has been appointed as the first-ever deputy city administrator for the city of Santa Barbara. Assuming the position Sept. 15, Valdez brings over a decade of municipal leadership including a stint as the assistant city manager for the city of Bakersfield.

Virginia – Glenda Paul has been announced as the permanent county administrator for Orange County. Paul most recently served as the deputy county administrator for Orange County, bringing more than 14 years with the institution.

Kansas – Glen Scott has been appointed as the new director of engineering for the Kansas Turnpike Authority effective following the retirement of David Jacobson. Scott will oversee planning and direction for the 236-mile Kansas Turnpike and lead a team of engineers.

California – Jamie Jones has been appointed as the senior advisor for strategic initiatives, community engagement and outreach at the California Department of Veteran Affairs. Jones brings over ten years in government to the position, where she will oversee a variety of initiatives.

Florida – Jim Turner has been appointed by Gov. Ron Desantis to the Southwest Florida Water Management District. Turner, a member of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce Government Issues Council and a senior counsel at a law firm, will join three appointees in overseeing water management activities for the district.

Michigan – Jennifer Faris-Jones has been announced as the next executive director for the Mecosta County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Faris-Jones brings more than a decade of experience with tourism and events management to the position, which she is slated to assume on Sept. 8.

Minnesota – Eric Taubel has been announced as the next executive director for the state’s Office of Cannabis Management. Taubel, a University of Georgia, Virginia and Minnesota graduate, will oversee the state’s vast medical cannabis program, which has been in place since 2014.

Alaska – Stephen J. Cox has been appointed as the next Attorney General for the state of Alaska. Cox will bring nearly 15 years of municipal experience to the role, including stints with several Alaskan companies and state agencies.
