Florida governor makes sweeping appointments for higher education boards

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has made a series of appointments to various Boards of Trustees (BOT) across the state’s higher education systems. 

Morteza “Mori” Hosseini and Fred Ridley have both been reappointed to the University of Florida BOT. Hosseini is the chairman and CEO of ICI Homes and currently serves as chairman of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University BOT, the Allstar Building Materials Board and the Southern Title Family of Companies Board. Hosseini earned his bachelor’s degree, his master’s degree and an honorary doctorate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Ridley is a Partner at Foley & Lardner, LLP and currently serves as the chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament. Ridley earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and his juris doctor from Stetson University.

The School Board of Gilchrist County welcomes new appointee David Biddle. Biddle is a certified operator for McCall Service and previously served on the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council. He is also a former member of the Gilchrist County Economic Development Committee.

The Northwest Florida State College District BOT welcomes one new member along with two reappointments. 

Gov. DeSantis appointed Lyndsi Stevens to the Northwest Florida State College District BOT. Stevens is currently the chief marketing officer for Celerium, Inc and previously served as an adjunct professor at Northwest Florida State College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations from Florida State University, her master’s degree in communication from Georgetown University and is currently working toward her doctorate in leadership from Liberty University.

Owner of Krueger, Fosdyck, Brown, McCall & Associates Private Wealth Management, Cory Fosdyck along with Jack “Tanner” Peacock were both reappointed to the Northwest Florida State College District BOT. Fosdyck is also a member of the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center and Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Florida Board of Directors. Fosdyck earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Western Illinois University.

Peacock is a broker associate for Scenic Sotheby’s International Realty and previously served as a member of the Walton County Planning Commission, the Walton County Design Review Board and the City of Destin Local Planning Agency. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Auburn University.

Two appointments were also made to the Lake-Sumter State College District BOT. The first being Clarence “Steven” Munz, who is the owner and operator of Galaxy Home Solutions, Inc. and 5M Livestock Company. He is also a veteran and the founder of the Villages Pop Warner Football League. 

Also appointed to the Lake-Sumter State College District BOT is Samantha Scott, a realtor for Connie Mahan Real Estate and the director of marketing for Mike Scott Plumbing. Scott currently serves as the secretary of the Sumter County Youth Center Board of Directors and is a member of the Realtors Association of Lake and Sumter Counties, the Sumter County Farm Bureau and the Sumter County Fair Association.
