Brady PieperThe Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is awarding 23 statewide transportation projects funding, allocating over $145 million to repair, rehabilitate and resurface the state’s roads, bridges and highways.
The funding will be sourced from several state and local funding programs that finance transportation infrastructure projects, including the Transportation Investment Act, the Design-Bid-Build program and local administrations. This month of transportation awards brings the state’s annual spending for construction contracts to $449 million in Fiscal Year (FY) 2025, according to GDOT.

The 13 projects that highlight GDOT’s resurfacing initiatives will share a combined $76.9 million in funding, the largest under this award announcement. These resurfacing projects account for approximately 58% of the agency’s spend for the FY.
Combined, two rehabilitation projects will secure approximately $11.9 million in funding, nine percent of the FY allocation, to repair roads and infrastructure.
The largest investment, $32.94 million, will be used to build a new bridge and related infrastructure carrying US 82, also known as Oglethorpe Boulevard, over the Flint River in Dougherty County.
GDOT will deliver the remaining 4% of the funding, about $6.1 million, to safety and bridge rehabilitation projects across multiple locations in Decatur, Dougherty, Thomas, Bartow and Cherokee counties.
