California is undertaking a $180 million project to elevate and protect part of State Route 37, a flood-prone highway along the San Francisco area’s North Bay. The federal government has pledged $155 million for support from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
The state’s department of transportation will oversee the project. Plans include replacing a bridge with a wider, taller causeway over a creek in Marin County. The project is currently in the design phase.
