The Tarrant County Commissioners Court appointed Chandler Merritt as the second county administrator in county history. The Commissioners Court approved his position with a 4-1 vote Sept. 19. Merritt will succeed G.K. Maenius, who is retiring at the end of September, and will begin his role on Oct. 1.
Merritt is a Tarrant County native with seven years of experience working in the county. He is being promoted from his previous position as assistant county administrator, where he served under Maenius.
