University receives $24.4M to create cybersecurity center

Alabama – The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) received $24.4 million to build the Center for Cybersecurity Research and Education (CCRE). The funds were approved by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees.

The 45,000-square-foot renovation project will turn the first and second floor of UAH’s Bevill Center into the new home of the CCRE. Once completed, the facility will have classroom and training spaces, research laboratories, offices and an updated main lobby.

According to school officials, the new CCRE reinforces the University’s commitment to increase opportunities for the state’s workforce and continue to support the fastest-growing research centers. The new facility will also consolidate and provide excellent opportunities for collaboration among students, faculty and staff.
