Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and talented Content Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for journalism, an ear for storytelling and the technical skills to produce high-quality multimedia content for a professional audience. This role involves reporting on government news and trends, as well as producing and managing our podcast.
Please note, this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in our Southwest Austin office.
Responsibilities:
Reporting:
- Research and write articles on government market news, trends and opportunities.
- Conduct interviews with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
- Develop a network of sources to provide timely and relevant information.
- Collaborate with the Director of Digital Content to ensure content accuracy and quality.
Podcast Production:
- Plan, record and produce podcast episodes remotely via Riverside.FM.
- Edit audio content for clarity, coherence and engagement.
- Utilize Buzzsprout for mass distribution of episodes across streaming platforms.
- Manage podcast schedules, guest bookings and episode releases.
- Collaborate with sales team and Director of Communications to promote podcast episodes through various channels to increase listenership.
- Track analytics for audience engagement and use insights to improve content and distribution strategies.
Video Production:
- Generate creative ideas and concepts for short-form videos that align with the topics covered on Government Market News.
- Plan, script, film and edit high-quality videos. Ensure all video content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with our editorial standards.
- Upload and manage video content on various platforms, ensuring proper metadata and optimization for search and discovery.
- Work closely with the editorial and social media teams to integrate video content into broader content strategies.
- Ensure all video content adheres to brand guidelines and maintains a consistent voice and style.
- Develop and manage a video content calendar to ensure timely production and release of video content
Requirements:
- Proven experience in journalism, preferably covering government or business sectors.
- Proficiency in audio recording and editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity).
- Experience with remote recording platforms (e.g., Riverside.FM).
- Familiarity with podcast distribution platforms (e.g., Buzzsprout).
- Strong research, writing, and interviewing skills.
- Ability to create engaging visuals and graphics for videos using Canva and video editing software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience producing and hosting podcasts.
- Knowledge of government market trends and issues.
- Familiarity with AP style.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field.
